The MORNING OF THE PROCEDURE:
Do NOT Eat or Drink ANYTHING the day of the
test,
EXCEPT:
1.) Your second dose of the bowel prep, or
2.) Your morning medicines with a small sip of water at
least 4 hours before the exam.
DO NOT CHEW GUM, HARD CANDY, or SMOKE UNTIL AFTER YOUR
PROCEDURE.
What are the side effects?
Occasionally, some patients may develop nausea, and rarely
vomiting. The best remedy for this is to take a break
from the Miralax Solution for about an hour to allow it to
move downstream, and then to resume drinking at a slower
rate. It usually takes 1 or 2 hours to complete each quart
container, and diarrhea generally continues for about an hour
or two after completing the prep (Many have found that
drinking the prep through a straw and chilling the solution
improves tolerance).
